Yellow Jeep Tours - Sedona, Arizona

What tree bark did the Indians use as antibiotic?  What part of which cactus makes a tasty jelly?  Which desert tree berry is gin-like?  The answers to these burning questions can be found on your Yellow Jeep Tour (www.adayinthewest.com) in Sedona.  Dick and I took a tour up Schnebly Hill Road while we were in Sedona in the latter part of October.  The sun shone brightly, the sky was incandescent blue and a gentle breeze teased the skin.  It was a wonderful day for a tour in Sedona.  Then again there are not many days that are not wonderful in Sedona.  Schnebly Hill Road has always intrigued me and I often thought I needed to make my way up that road and see the views.  I am so glad we didn’t try it in our own car!!!  After about a mile or so of paving, the road gives way to dirt and rocks and ruts and sometimes small boulders that challenge the undercarriage of any vehicle.  You definitely need a good jog bra and great shocks. We did see a number of cars on our tour but the majority of them were rental cars. Poor cars…  You can certainly make this trip in your four wheel drive vehicle but you will miss the abundance of lore and knowledge that you glean from the guides on the Yellow Jeep Tour.  Our guide was pleasant, capable and attired in her western duds.  We settled in with our jeep mates and gave ourselves over to her skillful driving and storytelling.  She imparted wonderful tidbits of information about the names of rock formations, the flora and fauna, the history of the area and some of the people who have traveled this incredible road.  Her love of this high desert area was evident and her enthusiasm for and appreciation of the natural beauty of the area was contagious.  I hope that you catch the Yellow Jeep fever too.
