Soothing San Diego, Calilfornia |
A recent quick trip to San Diego was a balm for my weary soul. We stayed with wonderful friends in a beautiful condo overlooking the beach. All my senses were treated to experiences that are foreign to me in Tucson. Cool air caressed my skin. In August!!! Warmth came from a soft blanket tossed over me as I semi reclined in a big soft comfy chair. From that chair I could hear the soothing and repetitive sound of waves crashing on the beach…the sound of endless waves reaching for the sand and being pulled back into the ocean. And about that beach… the water was bracing and refreshing and my bare feet relished the feel of warm, soft sand that gave way to firm, cool, smooth sand. From the balcony I could watch the incredible light show of sunset on the water. The sun would begin approaching the water and its brilliance shot a band of shimmery, bright light from the horizon to the beach. The color of the water all around this band was molten gold and silver and dusty pink. As each wave gathered its force a thin golden bar would break away from the band of brilliant light and ride atop the wave glinting and gleaming playfully till it was deposited on the beach. All my concerns seemed to melt away from my muscles in the presence of great views, great wine, and great friends. |
